Garmin Recall 2010: Nuvi GPS Systems Recalled – A recall on Gamin GPS systems has been made voluntarily on Wednesday. 1.25 million Nuvi personal GPS navigation devices have been recalled due to batteries which, made by a third party are likely to overheat. This is a fire hazard which could cause harm and damage to property and people.
The battery, working in conjunction with a specific circuit board and parts are the cause of this overheating. The parts are between a defined date code range and have a specific printed circuit board design.
So far, only 10 units have been found to have this occurrence happen, none of which have “significant property damage” or injuries, according to Garmin.
