‘I Am Extremely Terrified Of Chinese People’ Suggested by Google? PDF Print E-mail

A lot of people were writing to TheNewsOfToday this morning asking us why it seems like people are looking for the phrase “I Am Extremely Terrified Of Chinese People” on search engines. Many websites that pick out daily trending topics for some reason picked up on this phrase as well.

The reasoning is quite simple. People like using Google to play around and find unique and funny phrases. Google has a tool, called “search suggest” that suggests terms and phrases to search for. For example, if you go to Google right now and begin typing “I am ex” into the search box, it will then open a drop down selection box with terms and phrases in it. The top two results you will see in the drop down are “I am extremely” and “I Am Extremely Terrified Of Chinese People”.

Does this mean anything? It means that there are a lot of people searching for these phrases throughout the world on Google’s search engine. However, this system can be played with. Automated programs, that use different IP adresses, and/or Google accounts can repeatedly search for the same thing over and over again, just so that the search suggest feature suggests it. This is more than likely why this strange phrase is coming up.

(CBS) A massive egg recall has consumers scrambling to check their pantries for eggs that might be contaminated with salmonella.

The recall involves 228 million eggs produced in Galt, Iowa by Wright County Egg, and distributed to wholesalers and food service companies nationwide.

The recall affects eggs sold under the following brands: Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph's, Boomsma's, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms, and Kemps.
